MUFC transfer update ft. Rabiot, Milinković-Savić and Gakpo

August 10, 2022

Manchester United are linked with several high profile players as deadline day draws near. Here’s the latest MUFC transfer report.

In the wake of Brighton defeat news started circulating that United were in talks with Italian side Bologna regarding Marko Arnautovic. This created an uproar among fans as the 33 year old is seen as another short term solution. This sudden transfer development further established the fact that filthy Glazers and their entourage really do not have a solid long term transfer strategy. What’s worse and more forgettable, Arnautovic has a bad history related to act of racism.

The latest update is that United have pulled out of the deal. Nonetheless, it does confirm Glazers’ tendency to be cheap. It also shows that their decisions are frankly destructive for the football club.

Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United have apparently agreed a fee for French international Adrien Rabiot. Fee is in the region of 18-20 million euros.

Rabiot, like Arnautovic is known as a troublemaker, so is his mother and agent. It seems majority of United fans do not want him at Old Trafford. Personally I’d rather sign Neves. But if Erik ten Hag does want him I’d go with the manager’s choice and I’d welcome Rabiot. He’s certainly a more consistently reliable midfielder on the pitch than Fred and McTominay.

Sergej Milinković-Savić

Another midfielder United reportedly in talks with is Sergej Milinković-Savić. The Lazio midfielder and has been linked with United for some years now.

The Serbian scored doubled digits in both goals and assists last season – a tremendous output. For sure, “SMS” is a great option. However, Glazers are again the problem. The transfer would cost United upto 70M euros.

Let’s address the big elephant in the room.

Frenkie de Jong saga is unofficially dead. It has hit the limits of absurdity. Barcelona, after agreeing a deal with United threatened Frenkie de Jong with legal actions. The mess is not United’s doing and we might have to wait till deadline day to see where it ends.

Overall, it seems very unlikely that United will sign both Frenkie de Jong and Sergej Milinković-Savić. It seems possible that both Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot will sign for United.

If de Jong deal doesn’t happen, there’s also a possibility that United will Sergej Milinković-Savić and Adrien Rabiot.

Cody Gakpo

Ajax have priced Antony out of a deal. The deal is most probably dead. MUFC are instead going for Cody Gakpo. The potential transfer has gained a lot of momentum in the past two days. 35M pounds enough to secure the transfer, according to reports.

Gakpo is a Dutch international currently playing for PSV Eindhoven. He bagged 25 goals and assists 27 matches in Eredivise last season. Pretty impressive. He’s able to play in both wings. This is a no-brainer for United. Gakpo would be a very good addition to the frontline alongside Sancho, Martial and Rashford.

Time’s running out and it remains to be see if Glazers can save the season by making some actual statement signings.

It’s also possible that Untied will sign none of the players I’ve mentioned. Because the Glazers are in charge and I don’t trust them one bit to do what’s good for Manchester United.

Irrespective of how the transfers go, the Glazers have to leave Manchester United. The time is now. The whole fanbase have to come together.
