Ronaldo & Erik ten Hag reiterate MUFC commitment

October 27, 2022

Manchester United FC legend Cristiano Ronaldo has yet again reiterated his commitment to the club. His announcement came after he was axed by manager Erik ten Hag for breach of disciplinary protocol.

Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag

Synopsis: Let professionals deal with it.

The incident at the centre of ongoing debate involved Ronaldo refusing to come on during United’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur. Cristiano walked off the pitch before final whistle, and then allegedly left Old Trafford before the game finished – all this during United’s triumph over Spurs. When asked about the gaffe during post-match interview, United boss Erik ten Hag was precise: “I will deal with that tomorrow.”

The day following United’s win against Spurs, dubbed by many as the best performance by the Red Devils this season, the club confirmed that ten Hag had dropped Ronaldo for United’s PL clash against Chelsea.

Ronaldo has kept his calm and returned to training with the first team, his focus on Manchester United and World Cup for Portugal.

The incident has since divided the fan base. One side has decided his time is up and his behavior was unacceptable. The other side maintains that Ronaldo still has a lot to offer to Erik’s young Reds and he deserves a starting spot in the current squad.

I think both sides are correct and it’s a delicate situation that needs to be handled with care.

Ronaldo deserves a starring role in current squad.

Walking out cause he was wanted only very late in the game. But what else do you expect from the GOAT? Ronaldo didn’t score 700 club goals just to sit down on the bench. If anyone says he was disrespectful it’s wrong assessment. It’s temperament, knowing his limitations yet wanting to help and believing in his abilities. Many footballers of his age hang around in tunnels, or take on punditry or coaching, away from the pitch where Ronaldo again and again has answered his critics. He does want to start every game and there’s his stats to check if anyone has any doubt. They speak for themselves.

It’s rather disrespectful towards Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is the best finisher at Man United.

Ronaldo is indeed the best finisher who just needs a good run of games. He is bound score. But the stakes are so high Erik cannot offer Ronaldo much time to score. He needs legs to cover the ground. Cristiano is perhaps most dangerous as in the box target man.

Despite his stats and all the achievement even after all the gestures of respect towards the great player, CR7 himself must have realized that age is catching up. Let the boys start the game, if they are in great form. But if Sancho is out of form and still starts over from all time record goalscorer, then it’s not fair.

The club must back Erik ten Hag over any player.

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s a delicate situation.

Ronaldo – EtH Bottom Line: But let’s draw this line. EtH calls the shots. No one is above the club yada yada. It’s meaningless. Get the Glazers out if no one is above the club. No player is above the manager. The ownership is screwed public relations wise. The fans need to back Erik ten Hag, Cristiano, the whole squad. The resistance shouldn’t be against anyone in the squad.

Next, United welcome Sheriff Tiraspol at Old Trafford on matchday 5 of UEFA Europa League. Cristiano is expected to start the game, indicated by Erik ten Hag in his presser.
