Anti-Glazer banner confiscated from Man United fan

November 7, 2022

Freedom of expression and freedom of association in jeopardy. I’m referring to an incident happened before final group stage game in UEFA Europa League between Manchester United and Real Sociedad.

Check it out for yourself:

United’s official response as reported by Manchester Evening News: “The club recognizes right to peaceful and legal protest. The club has clear stance that anti-owner flags are not banned at Old Trafford as long as they are not offensive. However, we do not control the policies of clubs that host us on our travels and the decision to ban certain flags.”

In the video the content of the banner is not revealed. UEFA officials decided that’s not important. Just because the banner was anti-Glazer it was seized.

This is vile and completely unacceptable behavior from Real Sociedad and UEFA officials to say the least. Everyone has the right to make their voice heard. This only goes on to prove that UEFA are complacent with Glazer family’s request to curb public opinions against them. Glazers are afraid of their reputation. They have lost the fanbase, the customers. United fans will see the end of Glazer family, as pressure keeps mounting. They should expect more flags and banners from now on.

This week's UEFA away end shambles is brought to you by Real Sociedad. Blocked exits and stairways. Some sections dangerously overcrowded, others virtually empty. No effective stewarding to help fans. Without change, it's sadly only a matter of time before someone dies. pic.twitter.com/XPHNCBGcL3

The surprising thing is UEFA, Real Sociedad officials are complicit with Glazers. FA, UEFA – these organizations are as morally bent as the Glazers. They are not supporting fans and football as independent organizations. They are always succumbing to their rich, corrupt overlords. Football is a business to them, not a form of art. They try to profit from the game. Its improvement and protection are not important to these so called governing organizations.

I encourage fans to raise their voices against Glazer family further. Report any discriminatory incidents to MUST. Legal actions should be taken accordingly.

The fact Utd are now banning all displays of Glazer discontent amongst fans is telling. If I didn't know any better I'd swear they are trying to convince potential investors/buyers they aren't toxic to the brand which obviously affects investment or sale price.

The corrupt Glazers must be cast away from our great club. It’s high time everyone raise their voice. This is not only about Manchester United, but the whole football world. We are not going to let the beautiful game and its institutions run by profit hungry Neanderthals.
