Casemiro stars in Stamford Bridge thriller

October 23, 2022

The latest encounter did not disappoint, at least the neutrals for sure. Casemiro and reds ravaged Chelsea boys right at the death.

Chelsea vs United rivalry is not like the old days is it. But this clash of giants hasn’t lost its appeal completely. Times have changed but everytime these two sides meet I remember early 2000s. That was peak Chelsea United rivalry.

This time United should have taken all three points. A dubious penalty decision triggered a frantic ending to a thrilling encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Equalizer at the death by Casemiro made sure United left London with a point.

Chelsea vs Man United: Talking Points

Yes we showed real intensity and determination to earn a point after penalty setback, but still the match leaves with the feeling that we should have grabbed all three points.

We started very well and controlled the game. So much so that new Chelsea coach Graham Potter had to take off one of his fullbacks and change the shape. I keep telling myself Graham Potter is not any way related to Harry Potter! This Potter is the enemy!

United had several good chances during the opening 30 minutes. Most notably Marcus Rashford with couple of 1v1 that many, including Roy Keane, are claiming Ronaldo would have easily scored. Antony also with a great chance but his right foot shot was agonizingly wide.

We should’ve taken our chances and exploit the rent boys while they were completely out of the game. Overall Chelsea were terrible. They didn’t even deserve any goal in this game. They were missing several starters I’ll give em that. I don’t care what happened to Havertz. And I hope Mount doesn’t cross Licha’s path again.

Chelsea fans were so classless throwing insults towards an injured player, as Varane walked off the pitch. Learn some manners.

Controversial penalty. Jorginho doesn’t miss.

Broja, look at the size of him. He was never gonna fall like that they way McTominay held him. As Scholes put it, paraphrasing: this kind of contact is acceptable during set pieces since back in the days, and still today in other games these go unpunished.

The frustrating thing about that McTominay penalty is you'll see 10 of those next week and none of them will be given. I swear referees ref the game differently based on who's playing. The inconsistency is infuriating

There is just no consistency with refereeing, especially in the premier league and acutely this season. VAR doesn’t solve the problem. The guy lost his footing while he was trying to get away from McTominay, who had just no idea holding like that could be penalized in such a high profile game. I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be much noise had that not been given.

Enter Casemiro

Casemiro scores first goal for Man United! 💥🇧🇷👹🔴

A ravaging header to break Chelsea. His debut goal for United couldn’t have come at a better time probably. Brilliant assist from Like Shaw and what a header. Boss CDM. Welcome Casemiro and keep going. We can’t wait to see you playing!

The team played really well today. We need to be more clinical. Goals will come with appropriate additions.

After Casemiro, United need Gakpo.

We need out and out striker who can score goals guaranteed. Gakpo may not be that striker yet but has everything, just needs the platform.

Jadon Sancho needs to be dropped by EtH. I believe despite recent tantrums surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo that he should start with Rashford on the left wing. Sancho needs more time off which is sometimes good and which he deserves.

Lisandro Martinez
Licha making great memories. My defender.

While Martial is out I think Rashford Ronaldo and Antony would genuinely work. If Sancho was performing I wouldn’t recommend to drop him. Ronaldo deserves a spot. This is not a question of ability. We’re talking about the GOAT. Respect.

Raphael Varane Injury

While Erik ten Hag and the lads will take the positives from a very good response after a dubious penalty decision, the main concern is injury sustained by United’s most senior centre back Raphael Varane.

Hoping it’s not bad and Varane can recover fast. Whatever the outcome of the scan is United fans and everyone has full support for Raphael that’s for sure.

💬 "Everyone is behind each other — we stick together."
